Abstract

Traumatic Experiences of Children and Their Psychosocial Functioning – Analysis of a Research Review The work concerns the impact of various forms of traumatic experiences on the psychosocial functioning of a child. The article features traumatic experiences of an interpersonal nature, especially in the child’s relationships with closest relatives and significant people, and the impact on the child’s self-image, cognitive processes, emotional processes and the degree and nature of the child’s social functioning. The work contains an attempt at a synthetic introduction to the issues, taking into account the current state of research on the correlation between traumatic experiences, especially of an interpersonal nature, and the characteristics of the child’s actions in particular psychosocial spheres.
