According to Polish law, the following terms are used for academic and professional titles, degrees:

profesor (prof.) – the academic title of professor – granted by the President of the Republic of Poland
doktor habilitowany (dr hab.) – recommended by a fully qualified faculty board and granted by the Central Commission for Academic Titles and Degrees.
doktor (dr) – PhD – granted by a fully qualified faculty board
magister (mgr) – master of arts (MA) or master of science (MSc)
